I know it’s hard right now, but think back and just try to remember the two awesome days we had last week. When the thermometer hit 28 degrees on our back deck. We put on shorts and t-shirts and went outside to enjoy the warmth of the sun for the first time this year.
We “played” with our new water table…
And photo-bombed little brothers.
We slid down the slide in our jammers with snowball makers…
And hitched rides with Daddies because the grass was still wet.
We smiled because the sun makes us happy…
And the next morning? Well, the next day we had to chip the ice out of our new water table to get our dinkies out. Boo.
It was nice while it lasted. But it gave us a taste of what is coming – SUMMER! No boots, no mittens, no snowsuits. Just sun-screened, bug-spray, dirty-faced, mosquito-bitten, soccer-playing, sand-in-my-diaper, “I-don’t-want-to-go-inside,” happy kids.
Can you tell we’re summer people?
This summer we’ll be swimming, playing soccer, and filling our weekends with fun stuff. And then, we’ll be getting ready for.. <gasp> school. Yup, big brother will be going to school. On the school bus. By himself. Without me. How did that happen?!
Until that day though, we’re going to have summer fun and I’m going to love washing all that sand out of the bathtub. Because after this freezing winter, I’m never going to complain about hot days again.
Please remind me of this when I’m complaining about the heat in a few months 🙂
